***UPDATE***: The Shri Thanedar for Governor campaign regrets that the candidate will not be coming to our meeting tonight. He will be represented instead by Mr. Tony Lewis, his Policy Director.

Ahead of our June meeting this evening, the OPHW Precinct Mobilization Team Steering Committee will share food and strategy to help elect Democrats in 2018.

Andy Levin will address us on why he should be elected to Congress. Levin served as Assistant Director of Organizing for the national AFL-CIO for 11 years, and created the Union Summer program, which put more than 1,000 young people on the front lines of union campaigns in the summer of 1996. From 2007-2011 Andy served as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth and as Michigan’s first Chief Workforce Officer. Levin’s extensive record in labor activities and as a clean energy entrepreneur is outlined in greater detail at

Jeremy Moss of Southfield will be speaking as a candidate for State Senate. Moss was elected by his colleagues to serve as the House Democratic Whip and was appointed by the Speaker as the top Democrat on the House Committee on Regulatory Reform. He also serves as a member of the Elections and Ethics Committee, Local Government Committee, and the Joint House and Senate Committee on Administrative Rules. During his first term, Moss served as acting chairman of the House Local Government Committee, marking the first time in recent years that a member from the minority party has chaired an entire legislative committee meeting with action items on the agenda.
