During the month of April, we will observe Earth Month. It is a time to celebrate our planet and take action to protect it. At our April 18 monthly meeting, we will learn about how each of us plays a role from our invited guests:
Jim Nash, Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner - focused on environmental sustainability, green building and regional cooperation, Jim organized and hosted Annual Green Building Workshops, introducing local government officials and citizens to sustainability experts, engineering and technologies. He is also a founding member of the Regional Partnership for Sustainability.
Bob Allison, Deputy Director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters - LCV is an organization that works to protect the air, land and water in communities all across Michigan by activating voters to elect and hold accountable public officials who fight for an environment that sustains the health and well-being of us all. LCV connects people to political solutions.
Do more, worry less. Here we are, months before the major parties will nominate their presidential and vice presidential candidates, already stepping into general election mode. If you are looking for a way to help get voters to the polls and help Democrats get elected in 2024, don’t stand back and stand by. It’s time to step up and sign up to become a Precinct Delegate or volunteer. If you are already a PD, our term ends in August and it is time to file your affidavit for 2024. We will have forms and notaries at our April meeting.
At DSOC meetings, we don’t just talk, we Take Action. We have already engaged in postcard writing in recent meetings. Our Action this month will be connecting with voters who are potential volunteers. Join Us, we need all hands on deck.

April’s monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at the Huntington Woods Library. We know that the earlier start time may be a bit more challenging for those coming from work, so we will again be providing pizza. Sign up whether you will attend the meeting in person or via zoom using this link. We look forward to seeing you there, and please bring a friend!
Have you purchased your DSOC merch? Hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts and totes are available in our online Store. Since we are no longer requiring dues to join our club, merchandise sales will be one of our primary fundraising tools. Wearing DSOC merch not only shows you are a proud Democrat, it also promotes our club. These items also make great gifts!
